ASCII + JavaScript = MathML
ASCIIMathML.js is a wonderfully clever bit of coding that lets web pages automatically convert plain text equations into prettily-formatted MathML.
I’m not sure about their slightly hacky choice of wrapping equations in `…` instead of using tags (e.g. <code class="ASCIIMathML">), but I suppose it allows for things like people putting equations into weblog comments.
