Free Graphics Software
- Inkscape
- Open source cross-platform SVG editor, looks usable for simple vector illustration, logos etc.
- Expression
- Allows you to paint with brushes that loosely resemble real materials, but using vectors rather than bitmaps. It’s definitely worth a try if you have a graphics tablet for your Windows PC or Mac. Microsoft wants you to login via their Passport system before downloading.
- ArtRage
- Windows-only natural media bitmap paint package, limited but fun to play around with.
- Pixen
- Pixel art software for the Mac, designed specifically for creating intricate bitmap mosaics.
- GIMP
- Well-known all-rounder for editing and converting bitmap graphics, available for numerous platforms.
